Murderoutthere is grumpy. Murderoutthere likes reading noir fiction, but is tired of reading pastiche, romances with touches of noir atmospherics, endless teen angst or just plain bad writing. Murderoutthere tends toward quick rejections based on opening paragraphs and stanzas.

Murderoutthere has a weakness for narratives that explore identity, eroticism, obsession, power and corruption (preferably all of the above) in worlds of fracturing concensus presented in new and inviting ways. Murderoutthere enjoys a good laugh, too.

Murderoutthere thinks writing for the web should be relatively short (fiction max 2,000 words, poetry 50 lines incl. breaks), fast-paced and to the point. Noir has never been much about internal dialogue.

Like crime, Murderoutthere doesn't pay, but if it gets enough good stuff, it may one day produce a "best of" collection with Gluten Borg Press.

Murderoutthere assigns books for review. If you think you would make a good reviewer of noir fiction, e-mail Murderoutthere and explain why. Likewise, if you have an essay related to noir fiction, please query first with the first 500 words and a complete essay map.

Submissions should be e-mailed in the body of the text and attachments to:
